School History
"Ecole Les Roches," an international institute for young people, was founded in 1954 by Marcel and Jean-Pierre Clivaz. During its first years, the school became very well recognized throughout France and Italy, and a few years later, students from Europe and the United States began attending the school as well. Within five years, annual enrollment had increased to 220 students hailing from 50 countries and five continents.
In 1979, Les Roches International School became Les Roches Hotel and Tourism School, with instruction in English. In 1986, the school opened the present main academic building. Beautifully thought out, with superb classrooms, generous public spaces and practical training areas, the school set new standards unsurpassed today.
In January 1987, Les Roches was approved by the Swiss Hotel Association, an official organization that represents over 2,700 hotels nationwide. In addition, the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, Inc.(NEASC), America's oldest regional accrediting association, has accredited Les Roches programmes up to the Bachelor's level. In November 2000, the School was sold in its entirety to Laureate Education, Inc., a NASDAQ listed company, based in Baltimore, MD, USA. Through the subsequent creation of Laureate International Universities, Les Roches enjoys familial relationships with private universities in Chile, France, Mexico and Spain.
